West Kordofan govt to secure oil fields, borders during Eid Al Fitr

Authorities in Sudan’s West Kordofan State on Sunday announced the deployment of military reinforcements at oil fields and border areas with South Sudan, saying the move aims at preventing insecurity during Eid Al Fitr.

The newly appointed governor Abul Gasim Imam Baraka told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) that his state is seeking to develop a security plan to secure the oil producing areas and resolve tribal conflicts, as well as tightening secure along the border with South Sudan.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese National Ministry of Health announced a surveillance system, saying a package of precautionary measures is in place to prevent the cholera outbreak in South Sudan from crossing the border.

The ministry confirmed its readiness to deal with urgent reports and complaints. The announcement comes after the cholera outbreak in South Sudan besides the warning by UNICEF organization against increasing death cases due to the outbreak.
