Merchant trader shot by Popular Defence Forces

A merchant trader was seriously injured yesterday in north Joda at the border with South Sudan after being shot by a member of the Popular Defence Forces (PDF), part of the Sudanese Armed Forces

A witness called Ahmed Omar, told Radio Tamazuj the victim named Ibrahim Manshour was crossing a small channel with two other traders carrying consumer goods from Joda on the Sudanese side, to South Joda in South Sudan when the PDF opened fire.

Ibrahim Mansour was transferred to hospital in Khartoum for treatment and is said to be in a serious condition.

The witness added the incident caused horror and fear amongst citizens in the area causing some of them to flee.
