The government of Khartoum accused the new state of South Sudan of trying to economically strangle the people, to encourage them to overthrow the rule of President Al Bashir in an Arab Spring style uprising.

Sudan said this is in collaboration with some groups in the United States and other Western circles.

It stated Juba is carrying the responsibility for any sabotage of the oil fields and in supporting rebels such as the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, who are fighting government forces in Blue Nile state and South Kordofan.

In a statement, the Sudanese negotiating team said South Sudan are not prepared to reach an agreement fair to both parties in the Addis Ababa talks that recently took place.

Sudan warned the South against targeting oil fields and infrastructure and stressed that Khartoum will ‘continue to negotiate in good faith and with the political will to resolve all the outstanding issues and take full responsibility to protect the rights of the Sudanese people.’
