Two children were shot dead and their mother was gravely wounded at Logobero area in the northern part of Yei in an attack by unknown gunmen on Wednesday, a police officer said.

The police officer, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the gunmen opened fire on Mary Dahiya and her two children and managed to run away.

He further said investigations are underway. “No one was arrested or claimed responsibility but we are working hard to dig more details on who committed this crime,” he said.

The wounded mother is receiving treatment at Yei Civil Hospital.

An eyewitness called Joice Isama said the attackers shot several bullets in the area before running into the bushes.

Residents of Harvesters and Logobero areas have been complaining about increasing crime rates since the beginning of this week.
