Sudan govt says ready to sign comprehensive ceasefire in war zones

Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Sudan’s Presidential Assistant has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to sign a comprehensive ceasefire in war zones and humanitarian access according to the American proposal.

This comes during a meeting on Tuesday with Mahmud Khan, the head of the AU liaison office in Khartoum.

In a press statement after the meeting, Ibrahim Mamoud said the government is ready for a compressive ceasefire in the war-affected areas and humanitarian access according to the American proposal.

Separately, Hussein Yasin Hamad, the Governor of Blue Nile State, said his government wants to reach a lasting peace in the war-affected areas.

However, he claimed that the situation was normal in the state. “Our state is now peaceful and the position of the government is very clear, our aim is to reach to a lasting peace,” said Hussein.
