SPLA-North claims repelling fresh government attack in Blue Nile

The SPLA-North rebel group on Tuesday said that their forces repulsed a fresh government attack on their bases in Al Rum area in Blue Nile State on Monday morning.

Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, spokesman of the SPLA-North, said in a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj that the government forces attacked their positions in Al Rum area and that the clashes between the two sides were still continuing.

Lodi accused the Khartoum government of violating the ceasefire announced by President Omar Al Bashir recently.

On 31 January, Sudan's President Omar Al-Bashir extended his government's ceasefire with armed opposition groups by another month as part of a plan to bring peace in the country.
