The spokesperson for the Coordination of Civilian and Democratic Forces, popularly known as Tagadum, Bakri Al-Jack on Tuesday revealed that negotiations at the Jeddah Forum in Saudi Arabia between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) will commence at the beginning of May.

Al-Jack confirmed receiving official confirmations from the Saudi-American mediation parties regarding the official resumption of negotiations in the first week of May.

He also stated that the warring parties affirmed their participation in the negotiations without any preconditions.

“The information confirms the timely convening of the forum. However, I cannot speak on behalf of SAF or RSF, as each may change their mind about attending,” he said. “I cannot guarantee whether this round of negotiations will achieve positive results, but I hope that this round will be successful.”

In a direct message to the belligerents, Al-Jack said the war will not be resolved militarily.

“A whole year of conflict has only resulted in more destruction, sabotage, fragmentation, and societal division,” he lamented.

The Tagadum mouthpiece called for avoiding any more humanitarian disasters and urged the warring parties to spare the country from the clutches of total civil war.
