The international medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has opened a new clinic providing essential primary medical care in Mewun Payam in Boma State, a government official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, John Dunyi, an MP representing Mewun Payam in the state parliament, said MSF has recently transported malaria drugs and mosquito nets to his area.

“MSF has transported 500 mosquito nets and opened a clinic in Mewun,” said the state lawmaker.

Dunyi pointed out that the organization has trained two people from his area to help in distribution of medicines in Mewun Payam.

Last week, at least 39 people were reported to have died from malaria in Mewun Payam due to acute shortages of malaria drugs since the beginning of March.

Mewun Payam, which is located about 37 kilometers way from Jebel Boma area, has no roads leading to its neighboring areas
