The governor of South Sudan’s Lol state has issued an order appointing a new minister of physical infrastructure, bringing an end to months of lobbying for the post among local politicians in the area.

 Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan, according to the order which became public on Monday, appointed Santino Apath Apath as the new minister.

Several local officials attributed the cause for delay in the appointment of the new official to the need to carry out wider consultations.
