The governor of South Sudan’s Fashoda State William Othwon said that they plan to negotiate with those who are taking up arms against his government in the state.

Speaking at his office in Juba on Monday, governor Othwon said that the armed opposition groups in Fashoda rebelled against the government because of land disputes with Dinka Apadang.

He pointed out that that they are negotiating with some armed groups in the area, but he didn’t give further details about the matter. Othwon commended President Kiir’s call for a national dialogue in the country.

The official pointed out that that the national dialogue will restore trust between the Shilluk and Dinka tribes in the area.
