Authorities in South Sudan’s Lol State said many parts of the state are affected by floods since last month, forcing families to move to higher ground in the state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, William Wel Deng, chairperson of the state parliamentary committee for information said the affected areas include Majak Baai, Malual North, Malual Centre and Malual East counties among others.

“The general situation of Lol State is worse because of rains. We are looking for assistance from NGOs or UN agencies to come and support the affected communities,” said Wel.

Wel noted that no causalities have been reported so far.
