A civil society leader in South Sudan’s newly created Gbudue State is encouraging members of the Civil Society and Community Based Organizations operating in the area to unite; support each other, write and implement the projects that offer good services to the communities.  

 Speaking during a one day workshop on Tuesday at Yambio Civic Engagement Center, Abel Dominic encouraged the Civil Society and Community Based Organizations in the State to write the project  meeting the interest of the communities so that, development may reach the rural area.

 In his part, Felix Phillip Danambutiyo, the Civic Engagement Center Officer said, Democracy International supports Yambio Civic Engagement Center to ensure that, all the Civil Society Organizations and the citizens have neutral and accessible facility for learning, interacting and engagement among themselves.

 He stressed that it is very important for the members of various Civil Society Organizations to learnt how to write project proposals such that, they can win the USAID Request for Applications (RFA) and be able to help the vulnerable communities.

 Danambutiyo did not reveal the number of Civil Society and Community Based Organizations who applied for last year RFA and how many won the grants. But he attributed the reason to duplication of projects. Reliable sources claim more than one hundred Civil Society and Community Based Organizations in Gbudue State applied for the USAID RFA and only two won the grant. The workshop draws more than thirty participants from Yambio and Nzara Counties. The participants at the end of the workshop appreciated Civil Society Human Right Organization and Community Organization for Peer Educators (COPE) for organizing such workshop at this time.
