CEPO calls for release of detained Maridi radio project officer

A leading civil society group in South Sudan has called for the release of project officer for Maridi FM in Maridi state.

Morris Bazia was reportedly picked from his office by national security officials on Thursday last week for unknown reasons.

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), in a statement extended to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, said it was disturbed by the arrest of Morris Bazia.

CEPO urged the state government to ensure that Morris is safe. It demanded that if the arrested project officer had committed any crime, then he should be handed over to the police.

The rights group also urged the state government to ensure that Morris is released or taken to court for trial.
