Aweil governor urges citizens, opposition to participate in National Dialogue

Ronald Ruai Deng, Governor of South Sudan’s Aweil State Governor, called on citizens to prepare for the upcoming National Dialogue called for by President Salva Kiir.

This comes during an inspection visit to all eight counties of the state over the past two weeks to mobilize people to get ready for the upcoming National Dialogue in March.

The top state official urged the people of Aweil State to support President Kiir’s call for National Dialogue in the country.

Ruai also urged all armed opposition groups, political parties and government to solve their problems amicably, while calling on the SPLM-IO faction allied to former first vice president Riek Machar to participate in the dialogue.

“All people must come together to solve the problem of South Sudan. In fact, the opportunity for the national dialogue is for anybody, and any South Sudanese armed groups holding guns should put them down,” he said.

“This is the opportunity for the SPLA-IO rebels under Riek Machar who are still fighting against the government to put down their guns down and come for the national dialogue,” he added.
