A 40-year-old man, a Sudanese national living in South Sudan’s Yei River State, has been murdered by unknown gunmen at Limbo area in Lainya County.

The deceased, Ahmed Mohamed Sadiq, was a trader in Yei town. Reports indicate the criminals attacked him on Thursday evening while returning to Yei town from the capital Juba with goods.

Muammar Sugha, a Sudanese trader in Yei tow, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that their fellow Sudanese was killed on Thursday at 5:30 pm.

He descried Mohamed’s death as a great loss to the business community in South Sudan. Muammar called on the government to deploy security along the Yei-Juba road before many Sudanese traders could close down their businesses.

The Sudanese trader revealed that they have incurred huge losses due to insecurity along the Juba-Yei road.“We always incur losses. You hear a businessman is killed, goods and trucks burnt. There is no safety on the roads,” he said.

Police authorities in Yei said a team of police and military officers had been dispatched to the scene of the incident to carry out investigations.
