One person was killed and two others wounded when a vehicle they were travelling in came under attack by gunmen between Mangayat and Sopo in South Sudan’s Raja State on Monday, a local official said.

Raja Town Mayor Al-Amin Janga told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the late was a trader. He also said a policeman was also killed in a separate incident in Mangayat on Tuesday.

Janga accused opposition forces of carrying out the two attacks.

The local official said the opposition forces may attack Raja town anytime but he affirmed that government troops were ready to defend the town.

Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach the opposition for comment.
