A three-day youth training on conflict management and social cohesion is ongoing in Kuajok of Warrap State under the theme 'Strengthening community dialogue and social cohesion'.

About 60 participants from six counties of Warrap State are attending the training organized by the state ministry of youth, culture, and sports with support from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Civil Affairs Division(CAD).

Tong Kuol Mawien, Warrap state Youth leader welcomes the youth and urges them to dialogue communal issues amicably.

"I appreciate our partners for funding the training. Our role as youth is to help in developing our state because we are tired of killing ourselves. That is why we initiated this workshop to dialogue our issues of communal conflicts amicably instead of waiting for someone somewhere for solutions," he said.

Joseph Ngoriakou, UNMISS's Civil Affairs Division said the youth should be in the frontline to promote peace in Warrap State as it can open opportunities for them.

"Youth should be participating in modern technology like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter to promote peace and socialize with others. I was told that there were a lot of NGOs working here in Warrap before 2016, even funding was allocated for some projects here but when conflicts hit the state, NGOs phased out and left youth without jobs," Joseph said.

For his part, Agok Ayaar Warrap State Minister for Youth, Culture, and Sports said the youth will come out with resolutions to promote peace in the state.

"we brought cattle camp youth from all six counties as a plan of the ministry to listen to why they are always fighting there. And this is to find peace through resolutions of the workshop by the end of the training as we yearn for peace and stability in Warrap state," the minister said.
