Leaders of youths of Awerial County of Lakes State who protested earlier this month against aid organizations’ hiring practices say they are pleased with the hiring of six people from the host community.
Earlier this month, hundreds of youths from the host community of Awerial County protested and some forced their way into a compound housing aid agencies.
The protesters have demanded 13 percentage employment in each organization operating in the area.
Keny Dut Keny, an Awerial youth leader, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that at least six local youths have since been recruited by some NGOs. He claimed this to be the result of the demonstration that they had conducted.
But he said they are still lobbying for more employment with the foreign organizations.
“Our complaints as local youths in Awerial are still and the commissioner is in the process of following up our percentages of employment from NGOs and we are waiting for both RRC director and commissioner to brief us on the outcome.”
