Youth Initiative for My Country donated on Friday over 70 bags of food and practical items to the maternity ward of Wau Teaching Hospital in South Sudan’s Western Bahr El Ghazal state.

Malual Deng, a member of the organization, told Radio Tamazuj that the donation comprises food and non-food items.

The medical director of Wau Teaching Hospital, Dr. Bakhit Mayuen, commended the great effort exerted by the youths, saying that the initiative indicates that South Sudanese communities are still sticking together despite rifts in the social fabric due to the ongoing conflict.

He urged the youths to move forward with their humanitarian initiative for the development of the nation: “History will never forget the favour you are doing to the people.”

Youths Initiative for My Country is a non-profit organization founded by South Sudanese youths following the outbreak of conflict in December last year to alleviate the suffering of war-affected people.
