The citizens of Eastern Lakes State on Tuesday called on President Salva Kiir to establish a university to serve the people of the region and provide basic services.
The calls were made during President Kiir’s on-going tour to Bahr el Ghazal region.
Eastern Lakes state information minister Taban Abel told Radio Tamazuj that many young people cannot further their education due to the absence of institutions of higher learning.
“They said they want a university because many young people need education. They demanded health facilities and better roads,” he said.
“We want peace. The president should meet with his rivals so that the peace they signed succeeds and it should be permanent peace,” he added.
According to Abel, the president stated that the main aim of his visits is to preach peace and assure citizens that they will implement the agreement.
