Local authorities in Yei town have issued an order banning the sale of alcoholic drinks during official working hours.
The Yei town mayor, Alfathi Morgan said workers in government and private sectors excessively consume alcohol during working hours, which affects their performance at work.
He said a separate order was issued banning video shows at night during working days within Yei town. “Any person found to have opened his or her bar during working hours will be fined unless over the weekend. Secondly, there shall be no shows during working days and weekend shows will be done with approval from authorities,” Alfathi said.
He added, “We want to encourage people to be productive and promote activities that can help in development of the country.”
The mayor warned that anyone who violates the order will face the law.
