Yei Teachers Training College (YTTC) is set to reopen in July this year after it was closed following widespread violence that engulfed Yei River State last year.
The college, which is a recognized tertiary institution in the country, is among many institutions closed last year due to insecurity.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Bishop Hillary Luate Adeba, the board chairman of the collage, said the reopening of the institution was agreed in a board meeting held in Kampala last month.
“We discussed possibilities of reopening the teachers college and the board agreed that the college should resume its services in July 2017,” Adeba said.
Adeba further said the board and donors to the institution raised preconditions for the resumption of college. “Attached to the reopening of the college, were concerns for improved security, the other issue was the need for access to food supply,” he said.
The Christian leader pointed out that the state government assured that the security situation is good and approved the reopening of the institution.
Adeba revealed that Bishop Alison Theological College has been temporarily reopened in Arua district in Uganda pending security improvement before it is transferred to Yei next year.
