Yei River governor threatens to remove ‘lazy ministers’

The Governor of Yei River State David Lokonga Moses has threatened to issue removal orders against ministers who cannot deliver services to the people.

The Governor of Yei River State David Lokonga Moses has threatened to issue removal orders against ministers who cannot deliver services to the people.

The governor was reacting to a proposal raised by one of the state ministers who has called on the governor not to remove ministers after only a short period of time in office. According to the minister, the newly sworn-in ministers should be given time in order for the citizens to realise their output.

Moses says instead he has given “500” days to the ministers to deliver services to the people. He added that any minister could be sacked for “failing to deliver services”.

“If any person is given a duty and not performing, then an order will follow him or her. We have a state strategic development plan for 500 days. In the plan there is much needed to be done.”

The governor continued, “If you are given something to do, you must work day and night because people at the grassroots need services. If you are told to work on a road linking to a farmland so that the citizens can access the market and the hospital you must do it.”

“These are some of the things given to all of you to do in your various ministries.”
