The Governor of the proposed Yei Rive State David Lokonga Moses has called on the government and the opposition faction to implement the peace agreement signed in August last year.
The state official told Radio Tamazuj that the security situation in Lainya area is relatively calm following the recent fighting between government forces and opposition fighters.
He pointed out that that some citizens fled from Lainya to Yei town due to insecurity.Lokonga urged humanitarian organizations to provide relief to the conflict-affected people in Lainya and other parts of Yei River State.
He also called for restoration of peace so children can go back to school, while urging local residents not to leave the state.
Meanwhile, multiple sources confirmed that mounting tensions near Yei town forced many families to flee.
