Yei residents complain over poor communications network

Residents of Yei River State have complained over poor services of the Zain and MTN networks in and outside Yei town.

Residents of Yei River State have complained over poor services of the Zain and MTN networks in and outside Yei town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, several mobile subscribers said the two local operators are providing poor telecommunications services. They further said signals of the two mobile networks are not clear.

Moga Ali, a resident of Yei town, said it is difficult to communicate to family members and relatives in Yei and other parts of the country. “We have been facing a lot of problems when it comes to communications services here in Yei town for the last several days. The networks of MTN and Zain are too weak and we are unable to communicate to relatives,” Moga said.

“We want technicians of these networks to fix the problem so that we are able to communicate,” he added.

Sam Lomuro, a mobile service dealer in Yei town, said he finds it difficult to communicate with clients. “Up to now, my business has failed because there are no reliable telecommunications services. If you try to call or send airtime, the network indicates that it is not connecting and we are very sorry for this poor network in Yei town,” Lomuro said.

“We call on the government to put pressure on the network providers to improve services. We need a good mobile operator like then vivacell,” he added.

Edina Sunday, another resident of Yei town, accused the mobile network operators of cutting off airtime without notifying her. She appealed to the local providers to improve their telecommunications services.

“I am not happy because the network is very poor here and I cannot communicate to my family and relatives in Juba. I can load airtime for 100 SSP, but without calling anyone, provider informs me that there is no airtime,” Sunday said.

Radio Tamazuj could not reach the two mobile operators for comment.
