Police authorities in South Sudan’s Yei River State said they launched an investigation into an incident in which two people were killed and two others injured on Yei-Kaya road last week.
The state police commissioner, Yousa Lujanga Kamba said Tuesday that they arrested two suspects over the death of a civilian only identified as Simon and Marial Madut, a South Sudan army soldier.
He said the two men were killed over a family dispute and the suspected killers are undergoing investigations at Yei military barracks.
“The joint operation police force arrested two suspects who killed late Simon and Marial. They are all military men and they are under investigations at the military prison,” Lujang told Radio Tamazuj.
He further said security agents were deployed to probe and track armed men who attacked a passenger car at Liggi village last week.
The incident, according to the officer, left two civilians injured.
“We suspect these are bandits who attack civilians on the road. They shot at the passenger car and injured two civilians,” said Lujang.
He added, “This was done by anti-peace elements on the road”.
Separately, Lujang said police authorities are investigating a case in which unknown people attacked villagers fleeing Wunduruba area in Lainya County last weekend, critically injuring two of them.
