Police in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State said they are investigating circumstances under which a four-year-old girl’s body was found hanging from a tree in the area on Friday.
The incident took place at Nyongwe area, south of Yei town.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Yei Police Commissioner Major General Yoasa Lujang, said: “We have launched investigations to find out what exactly led to the death of the little girl.”
He added, “The police will find out whether she was killed by someone and hanged. Currently, we have started investigating family members. No suspect has been arrested so far, but we are investigating the case.”
Separately, Yoasa Lujang said police are also investigating circumstances under which a woman was shot dead by her husband at Mahad are on Wednesday.
“A lady called Lucia Ngonga was shot dead and relatives opened a case with the police. The suspect was arrested and a soldier is in custody at the military barracks, but investigations are underway. The case will be tried in court any time,” he said.
