The governor of South Sudan’s Yei River State David Lokonga Moses on Friday issued decrees reshuffling the state cabinet and appointed two opposition officials.
In a decree seen by Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Lokonga removed the state minister of local government and law enforcement Yongule Atanasio and appointed Huda Michael Laila after relieving him from the state ministry of agriculture and forestry. Catherine Juan has been appointed as the new minister for agriculture and forestry.
The state minister of education and gender Mary Apayi has been replaced with Lona Sadia.
The state Information minister Stephen Ladu Onesmo has been replaced with Alfred Kenneth Loboka, who is a member of the SPLA-IO faction allied to First Vice President Taban Deng Gai.
The officials who retained their positions include finance and public service minister Kenyi Abiyaza, health minister Kogo Manase, and physical infrastructure minister Jacob Aligo Lo-Ladu.
The governor also appointed Samson Dada Barnabas who is a member of the opposition as the state advisor for peace and reconciliation.
Isaac Minyos has been appointed as state advisor for special affairs while Jackson Abugo Gama and Muki Batali retained their positions as advisors for political affairs and security affairs respectively.
No reasons were given on the new changes.
