The Governor of South Sudan’s Yei River State Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Monday issued a decree sacking Morobo County commissioner and immediately replacing him.

In the state decree, former commissioner Richard Remo was replaced by Nelson Isaac Duku.

Adil, in another decree appointed Denis Lasuba Paul, the former commissioner of Yei River County as the chief administrator at the state secretariat.

The governor urged the new officials to work towards peace building, reconciliation and service delivery for the people.

“Go to Morobo and work with the people, ask them on the challenges facing them, draw a plan to address their concerns. This conflict that has engulfed us has torn apart our social fabric with the civilians. What is important please go to the people and begin building good relationship between the armed forces and the civilians to restore hope,” he urged.

For his part, Nelson Isaac Duku, new Morobo County commissioner welcomed his appointement and promised to work hard to restore peace and stability in the area.

“I am aware of the huge challenges and tasks ahead of us, I am also aware of the limited resources we have at a critical economic situation battling our country. It’s vital for all of us to have collective joint commitment to bring the situation back to better living conditions,” he said.

Earlier residents of Yei River State called on the state government to ensure all county commissioners move down to their counties, after accusing them of staying in Yei town, leaving their counties without any administrative personnel.
