The ministry of land and housing in South Sudan’s troubled Yei River state says it has hired over 2,000 local casual workers to rehabilitate damaged internal roads.

The ministry of land and housing in South Sudan’s troubled Yei River state says it has hired over 2,000 local casual workers to rehabilitate damaged internal roads.

The project is supported by the Swiss government through its partner Terres De Homes (TDH).

Speaking at the launch of the project last week, Yei’s land minister, Jacob Aligo Lo-Ladu appreciated the Swiss government for supporting the people of Yei River State.

He further said the people of Yei need more empowerment programs such as vocational trainings and agriculture for self-sustainability.

“My appeal to the donors outside there is that, the people of Yei need peace, self-sustaining programs such as vocational trainings and agriculture for the youth and women so that when peace is realized they will take up the development of this state,” said Jacop.
