Yei football association calls for equipment and funding

Football equipment is needed to build peace and unity in the region, the Yei Football Association told Radio Tamazuj.

John James said that most of the local clubs lack boots, uniforms and emergency first aid.

“Most of the players in Yei are really doing excellent in the field of sports but we don’t have the capacity as an association to provide them with all the necessary requirements to boast their talents on the field,” James explained.

Pitch conditions are not good, and pose a danger to the life of the players, James said.

“My message to the government is there is a need for allocation of sports grounds in all areas and major stadium sites so that we can lobby and build real sport sites which can eventually generate money towards improving the sports industry in Yei County” James said.

Yei town is one of the biggest towns in South Sudan but lacks a modern stadium in the area.
