A Yei Diocese priest in a speech on Friday denounced “the current politics” in South Sudan saying the nation is full of corrupt leaders.
Priest Tom Poru Martin denounced tribalism, saying that continuous war is scaring away investors as some corrupt officials pillage the country’s resources and take them outside to develop foreign countries instead of their own.
The outspoken cleric added that some officials act more like renters or foreigners than South Sudanese, attributing the ongoing bloodshed in the country to corruption.
He urged his parishioners to continue praying for those who are suffering in the greater Upper Nile region, and for the “senseless war” to end through dialogue.
