The top police officer urged strict control of the documents, saying any foreigner found with false information will be jailed.
Several residents of Yei River State have expressed happiness over the new development.
Joice Galaka, a resident of Yei town, expressed happiness over the production of nationality cards and passports in Yei town.
Galaka said she will visit the immigration office to process the documents for her family. “I am very happy because we will get the documents from Yei. I faced a lot of challenges and failed to get a nationality card in Juba due to long procedures and high cost of living in Juba,” she said.
“We are also happy because our children will get these important documents here. These days if you want to get even a local job, they require a nationality card,” she added.
Over the past years, residents of Yei River State complained about challenges in obtaining nationality cards and passports in Juba.
