South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir should reshuffle his cabinet and appoint leaders who can represent the interest of communities across the country, the deputy minister of labour and public service said.

Addressing a crowd of citizens in Pibor town after the visit of First Vice President Taban Deng Gai last week, David Yau Yau called upon President Kiir to sack the current government and appoint new officials who can work for peace in the country.

“For us to succeed in all what we are trying to do, I recommend that all the national ministers, including myself and all the national officers should be relieved. The president, the first vice president and the vice president should form a new national government,” said Yau Yau.

The deputy minister, who was previously the leader of a Murle rebel group, called on leaders of the Murle and Dinka Bor tribes to come to Juba and discuss how to bring about peace between the two communities.

“Youth who are the implementers now are innocent, they are just implementing somebody’s plan,” he said.
