Over 30 women from rural areas in Yambio County on Thursday called on the people of the newly created Gbudue State to end all forms of violence against women in the community.
The women made the call during a one-day advocacy training workshop for women in rural areas organized by Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) in collaboration with SUCCESS.
Speaking on a program aired on Yambio FM, Angela Angelo, representative of the participants, urged women to speak about what is affecting them in the society.
For his part, Ripai Justin, facilitator of the training, called upon the state government and the people of Gbudue state to pay too much attention to issues affecting women.
Meanwhile, Gugamugbia Peter said, one of the organizers of the workshop said that the training aimed at empowering women in the rural areas with knowledge on how they can address issues affecting them and where they can seek good advices.
He pointed out that during conflicts women are vulnerable. Gugamugbia reiterated his call to end all forms of violence against women.
