Police authorities in Gbudue State have urged residents against the dangerous practice of shooting off guns to celebrate Christmas and the New Year and warned of criminal charges against those who will violate the order.
James Monday Enoka, a police commissioner in Gbudue State, said in a statement in Yambio town on Friday that shooting indiscriminately into the air will be investigated and punished accordingly.
“Any violation will lead to legal measures,” he stressed.
The police officer assured the people of Gbudue State of maximum security to enable them to celebrate the festive season in peace.
He further said the police will work jointly with other organized forces to provide security in the state.
Enoka also warned police personnel against consumption of alcohol while on duty, saying strict measures will be taken against those who violate the order.
