The deputy governor of the proposed Gbudwe state in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria, Wandu Victor Edward called for a reconciliation conference among armed groups in Yambio including the government and rebel outfits.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Wandu said two committees was formed one to train members of the armed groups and another for reconciliation and healing as part of an agreement signed between the government and South Sudan National Liberation Movement rebel group.
He pointed that most people in Western Equatoria are suffering from trauma due to the atrocities committed against them by government forces and rebel groups.
Wandu added that the reconciliation committee which was formed last week with participation of religious leaders who will help conduct the conference.
He called on the local community to embrace the spirit of peace and forgiveness among themselves and not to follow culture of revenge.
