Community members drawn from different parts of Yambio town in South Sudan’s Gbudue State on Thursday reiterated calls on government and armed groups to embrace peace and unity in the state, Yambio FM reported.
Speaking during a one-day workshop on peace-building organized by Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) in collaboration with SUCCESS at Yambio Civic Engagement Centre, the participants reiterated calls for peace and unity among the people of Gbudue state.
For his part, Gugamugbia Peter, Acting Coordinator for Yambio Civic Engagement Center said: “If we know what peace means, people cannot do wrong thins to others”.
Peter urged the participants to speak peace daily not harsh words to each other.
The participants emphasized the importance of providing training opportunities to youth on peace -building and conflict management, formation of peace-making groups in football clubs and sensitization of communities and church leaders on peace-building programs.
