The South Sudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM) signed a peace deal Saturday with the South Sudanese government at Freedom Square in Yambio town of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, the Commissioner of Yambio County confirmed.

The South Sudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM) signed a peace deal Saturday with the South Sudanese government at Freedom Square in Yambio town of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, the Commissioner of Yambio County confirmed.

“Yesterday the government of South Sudan and the youth of South Sudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM) signed a peace deal,” said Commissioner Hussein Enoka.

Enoka told Radio Tamazuj Sunday that the Presidential Adviser for Security affairs Tut Gatluak signed on behalf of the South Sudan government and John Fasino on behave of the SSNLM.

Religious and local leaders in Yambio town witnessed the event, he said.

Enoka stressed the commitment of the parities to implement the peace deal they signed within two month.

The Commissioner called on the other local communities and youth who are fighting the government to negotiate in order to reach a peace deal.

The SSNLM and government signed a preliminary peace deal in November of last year. They were meant to finalize the deal this January but clashes broke out between them resulting in the shooting of SSNLM leader Victor Wanga.
