Yakani: families fled to neighbouring countries over security fears during Christmas

Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), said that there were no any serious incidents recorded during the Christmas holiday in Juba, but a large number of local residents fled to neighbouring Uganda and Kenya due to security fears in the city.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, Yakani pointed out that many families didn’t celebrate Christmas this year due to the country’s economic crisis.

Last Friday, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba suspended evening prayers on Christmas Eve in Juba due to security fears.
