Civil society organizations and local authorities in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State organized a workshop on violence against women to fight against child marriage.
Dau Jerkuc, Twic East Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that about 30 women and 10 men participated in the workshop.
He said the participants came from all payams. The county official pointed out that the workshop aimed at creating awareness among the communities in order to fight against the domestic-based violence and forcible marriage of underage girls so that they complete their studies.
The workshop is scheduled to conclude today Friday.
