The High Court in South Sudan’s Jonglei State has resumed operation after it was closed in May, an official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Thursday, the President of the state High Court, Justice John Yel Aleu said court sittings started on Tuesday.
“I was assigned for a mission in Juba. That mission is over and I came back. Now, the court is in sittings,” he said.
Aleu said the High Court would prioritize remand and appeal cases.
The official, however, appealed to those with pending cases to remain patient, saying the institution would handle all their cases.
The High Court is the highest court at the state level in South Sudan. Its most senior judge is its president.
