In the fifth South Sudan Women League, Torit Women Football Club beat Bentiu 2-0 at home as they registered a clean sheet for the second time in a row.

Torit Women Stars are set to face Kuajok in an away match next Saturday in their sixth match as the countrywide league continues.

The game that kicked off at 2 pm saw the visitors trounced at Torit Freedom Square and this is the first time Bentiu United lost a game.

In their first game, they beat Kuajok 1-0, followed by a draw 0-0 with Juba, and another 1-1 draw with Yei.

In their previous match, Bentiu Women United beat Yambio 1-0, which gave them 8 points after losing to Torit.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj after the game, the head of the delegation from Bentiu Women Football Club, Pok Makuei, said the game was not fair and accused the referee, who he says officiated their last four games, of irregularities.

“The game was not favoring my side. It was an unfair game. The same thing that happened in Yambio is what happened in Torit today (Saturday). I can say to the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) administration that the referee is against Bentiu. On my side, they target players. If there is a foul, the referee does not rule in our favor but he just gives in favor of Torit,” Makuei complained.

He said he is hopeful that he will top the league in the next two remaining matches of the first leg.

Oyella Farida Sunde, a player for Torit Women Stars Football Club said, “I feel happy, very happy because the way we played today was so fantastic. The way we were coordinating, passing the ball was great. I give thanks also to our spectators, the supporters because they are the ones who can moral boost us and we have that courage of playing well.”

Chang Thomas Manyiel, the captain of Bentiu United Women Football Club described the game as having been fair.

“The game was a bit fair and we know that in every match there must be a loser and a winner or even a draw. So, next time we are going to do much better,” Captain Chang said.

“We have two wins and two draws in the previous matches and this is our first loss. We were trying to climb up but due to the loss of today (Saturday), the game we just lost is going to drag us down, which is unfortunate,” Chang added. “We accept our mistakes and we learn through mistakes. I think we were doing much better because we played with other teams, that is Yei and Juba superstars and we managed to draw with them due to the training given to us.”

She hopes the next matches will be much better as they face Wau in Juba next weekend.
