A three-day workshop on women’s rights ended on Thursday in South Sudan’s Aweil State with calls for promotion of women’s rights in communities.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Suzie Anthony, the executive director for Won Organization for Sustainable Awareness applauded Aweil State government for allowing the organization to carry out its activities to empower women and girls.
She said the ongoing civil war has affected women, adding it is time for their participation in decision making.
For his part, the state minister for Agriculture, Joseph Garang said the state government is committed to supporting women in society. He said the government will create agricultural and livelihoods projects aimed at sustaining women and girls.
More than 60 women leaders from Aweil, Lol and Aweil East states attended the workshop conducted at the youth resource center.
