Women’s rep at JMEC criticizes Mogae over UN Women harassment claim

The representative of women’s forum at JMEC criticized the organization’s chairman Festus Mogae after he said the UN Women’s director in South Sudan was being harassed by Minister of Information Michael Makuei.

The representative of women’s forum at JMEC criticized the organization’s chairman Festus Mogae after he said the UN Women’s director in South Sudan was being harassed by Minister of Information Michael Makuei.

In press statement, Sarah Amer Monjok said the disagreement was because the women’s group didn’t participate in a recent forum run by the UN.

The women’s group didn’t attend the forum because the UN disagreed with the October decree to change the number of states in South Sudan.

Monjok also criticized the outcomes of the conference, which asked for the reversal of the 28 states decree. She said the number of 28 states was a political matter for the parties to the conflict, not women.
