South Sudanese women leaders met with the Sudanese Ambassador in Juba yesterday in order to seek support of the government of Sudan for enhancing women’s role in the peace process.
Speaking on Monday after a meeting at the Sudanese embassy in Juba, Head of the Sudanese Embassy Ambassador Osama Ahmed A. Farrage said that they have discussed areas on how to exchange and share ideas between the women blocks of Sudan and South Sudan.
“We met this morning with the representatives from Women Block of South Sudan in Sudan Embassy in Juba. We are very glad to discuss with them several issues about the role in enhancing the relationship with the Sudanese block and vital role in peace and security,” he said.
“We have also agreed that a delegation from women’s block in South Sudan to visit Sudan in coming December. It is our duty to facilitate the process,” Ambassador Osama added.
For her part, the chairlady of women block in South Sudan, Amer M Deng has appreciated the welcome by the ambassador and the invitation to Sudan. She said the relations between the two countries are long and historic and they need Sudan to support the country.
“We have discussed a lot of cooperation and the engagement on how to go about with the women in the union block in Sudan in which they have opened for us a way that we should visit Sudan soon and that visit will reach refugees in Sudan,” Amer said.
