A two-day capacity building workshop for women in decision-making and peace-building concluded on Wednesday in South Sudan’s town of Renk in Northern Upper Nile State.
In a statement to Radio Tamazuj, the state minister of gender Hadia Joseph said the workshop sensitized women in their roles as decision-makers and peace builders in society.
She said the workshop also focused on women’s economic capabilities.
For her part, Sarah Joshua Okwaci, the coordinator of the workshop at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan said the workshop provided a platform for women to make decisions reflecting on their economic and political challenges.
The workshop organized by the civil affairs department at the UNMISS in collaboration with the state ministry of gender, children and social welfare was attended by 62 women.
The women included parliamentarians, women in civil service and civil society organizations.
