Police authorities in Bor town of Jonglei State say a businesswoman was killed and her husband injured when armed robbers attacked their home on Tuesday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Major-General Joseph Mayen Akoon, the state police commissioner, said the incident occurred during a robbery in Bor’s Hai Salaam neighborhood on Tuesday morning.

“Those thieves were attempting to steal from the deceased home. But after the deceased identified as Nyaman Agir woke up to rescue her properties, she was shot dead on the spot. As her husband Daniel Obono came for her rescue, he was also shot but injured,” Mayen explained.

He pointed out that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

“We are still looking for the suspects. We notified all the private clinics not to treat anyone with gunshot wounds because one of the three attackers sustained injuries during the incident,” he said.

The senior police officer also urged Bor residents to cooperate and assist the police in the fight against crimes.
