Relatedly, the police in Uror County arrested a man on suspicion of involvement in last week’s murder of a woman there.
On 9 June, a young woman was waylaid, robbed, and killed by armed men while heading to Pathai from the Motot area.
“The suspect admitted that he shot the woman dead for refusing to give him the grain she was carrying. According to our investigation, the suspect was accompanied by two other men whose identity he refused to disclose,” Gatbel Machar, the county police inspector said.
He pointed out that more investigations are still ongoing and that the suspect will either be tried by traditional chiefs or forwarded to Bor town.
For his part, Machot Gatluak Kenyjak, the county commissioner, condemned the incident and said that such crimes are common because residents lack food and are starving.
