Woman killed, 5 injured by militia in Blue Nile capital

A woman was shot and killed and five others wounded in Damazin town in Sudan’s Blue Nile state by a pro-government militia stationed in the southern checkpoint of the town on Tuesday.

A local source told Radio Tamazuj that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at the southern entrance of Damazin town started shooting at a vehicle carrying passengers coming from Village 8.

The same source further said the RSF forces stopped the vehicle and checked the passengers' properties. He added that the incident took place when some of the passengers refused to give up their belongings, prompting the RSF forces to start firing on the vehicle, killing a woman and wounding five others.

Damazin residents have repeatedly complained about harassments by the Rapid Support Forces.
